Harriers are on the Road and Water again 11/06/16

Please find below an update on our latest activities.

Mounts Bay Harriers have been out & about doing various events over the last couple of weeks all over the UK.
Phil McNevin competed at The Outlaw 70.3 triathlon in Nottingham. This was a fast rolling course comprising a 1.2 mile open water swim, a 56 mile cycle followed by a half marathon. Phil finished in a time of 6 hours 44 minutes. He was delighted with this time – this race was a warm up for the full Outlaw triathlon in August where the distances are doubled.
Several members took part in the Blenheim triathlon weekend, all finished in good times. Eden Backhouse came 3rd in her age group with a time of 1.37.21 but her father Stuart finished in a slightly faster time of 1.27.58. Ruth Glover completed Blenheim triathlon for the first time in 1.40.14. She loved the course & will be back next year. Helen Hughes also completed the course in 1.39.

Nearer to home, Helston triathlon was well supported by local athletes with Harriers Sarah Tregear completing her first tri in 2.06.12. Mark Worledge & Janet Haynes both finished 2nd in their age groups & we’re very pleased with their results.

In Wales, Ian Tucker took part in the gruelling 190 mile Dragon cycle through the Brecon Beacons with 15000 ft of climbing . Temperatures reached 30 degrees on the day but the ride was very well organised & he enjoyed it. He rode with a friend from work Steve Davy who raised money for motor neurone disease. They finished in a very respectable 14 hours 32 minutes.image2 (2)
