Who we are...

Mounts Bay Harriers are the newest local Running, Triathlon and Athletics Club in Penwith, being set up by local triathletes and runners in June 2005. The club meets at Mounts Bay School every Monday at 7pm for social runs of varying lengths, with structured coached sessions on Thursdays at 7:30pm at the Astro Park, behind Penzance Fire Station.

...and what we do!

The club now has over 200 members and regularly has 20-30 turning up for training sessions. Of the group that turn out there is always a wide standard of athletes from beginners, who are especially welcome, to accomplished triathletes and runners. The club also has a large junior section who meet on Friday nights at "The Dome" at Mounts Bay School, Heamoor.

Jubilee Pool Aquathlon - Race 2 - June 2009

Mark and Chris

The sun was shining, the fair was in town and everyone just seemed to be flocking to Jubilee Pool.  What an evening!

82 competitors took part in the second Jubilee Pool Aquathlon, 56 of which entered on the night.

The 200m swim around the triangle of the pool was held in a solar-heated swimming pool the temperature of which was 21C.

Due to the fair, the 2 mile run route was diverted through Jubilee Gardens and in front of the Yacht Inn.  A huge amount of marshals ensured that the runners were safe from both traffic and fair-goers.   Many thanks to all the marshals who turned up and those who I nabbed on the night!

Zoe

Only 21 seconds separated the top three:

1. Neil Eddy - swim 2:14 / run 11:10 / total 13:24
2. David Bartlett - 2:14 / 11:21 / 13:35
3. Olly Jose - 2:28 / 11:17 / 13:45

For the women, Emily Trebilcock finished in 15:52 (swim 3:16/run 12:35), just four seconds behind Ian Matthews!  Ian also came second Male Vet to Dave Pell, who finished in 14:56 (swim 2:49/run12:07) - Poor Ian!!

Second female home was Charlotte Hurst with Kay Kershaw coming third.  First female vet was Sasha Osborne.

Wendy

For the juniors, Connor Outram picked up the prize for the boys and Melissa Blake-Lomax the prize for the girls (Charlotte Hurst would have been first junior but she had already got a prize for second female overall).

Congratulations to everyone who took part in their first multi-sport event.  From MBH there were Avril Harvey, Helen Squire, Yvonne Watkins and Zoe Mason (sorry if I’ve forgotten anyone).  From Tri-Logic there was Phil Bristow’s son, Sam.

Results HERE (there may be some discrepancies on swim times, but the total times are correct)

We hope to see everyone for the third race in the series on Wednesday, 29 July 2009.
