Who we are...

Mounts Bay Harriers are the newest local Running, Triathlon and Athletics Club in Penwith, being set up by local triathletes and runners in June 2005. The club meets at Mounts Bay School every Monday at 7pm for social runs of varying lengths, with structured coached sessions at various locations on Thursdays at 7:00pm. (best to e-mail first)

...and what we do!

The club now has over 200 members and regularly has 20-30 turning up for training sessions. Of the group that turn out there is always a wide standard of athletes from beginners, who are especially welcome, to accomplished triathletes and runners. The club also has a large junior section who meet on Friday nights at "The Dome" at Mounts Bay School, Heamoor.

Mag 7 - 2010

group

An early start for us this week as a trip to Saltash for the 11th running of the vey hilly Mag 7 - 7 miles of ‘undulating’ (you’re ‘aving a laugh!) through and around the country road of Saltash. It was pretty warm and humid as 17 Harriers met at Saltash Rugby club and prepared for the off.
We were missing Zoe, who we think went to a kick boxing thing? and Helen K who had transport problems? but to the rescue came Richard B who managed to blag an entry on Friday!
A group photo was at first gate crashed by an over enthusiastic St Austell chappy! funny moment was he was trying to stand at the back unnoticed when one of our clan spotted him - a swift double back creeping up behind him saw his running shorts suddenly end up around his ankles! He’ll be looking behind him next time he tries that one!

At the end of the day a Big Well Done to all Harriers who competed today in what were very warm and humid conditions, not to mention those bloody hills!!

402 runners in total - fantastic runs from everyone (apart from me and Sam! 2 cripples together!)

Age group placings for Mike Robinson 3rd male under 40 (5th overall) and a fantastic return to form for Rachel Tresidder, 2nd in the under 35 females, Mhairi in 4th, Andrew just missed out with a 4th in the 45-49 as did Clive, also a 4th in the 65-69. Tammy smashed her PB by over 5 minutes for this course, Richard Savage is running like a hero at the moment and I’m wandering what Jason would have done if he didn’t get in till 3am after drinking those pink cocktails only hours before the start - I think everyone managed some sort of sprint finish! so the training is paying off Viv!

Brilliant Day out - nice technical T and Unique medal, chocolate and drink, all for a tenner - can’t be bad

Big Thanks to Dean, Rachels hubby, for taking the photos) you can see them on the MBH Facebook pages

and Mhairi makes the best raspberry cake - Clive says so (he did have 5 pieces just make sure!)

Didn’t you just feel for that bloke who ran it in full gorilla suit including full mask / head!! looneymike-leading-race

As for team placings we didn’t finish in the top 3 on the day, as there were a couple of Devon teams which won’t feature in the Cornish GP placings - but one thing I know for sure is both mens and ladies teams were in front of our local nearest rivals Hayle :-)
