August Jubilee Pool results?HERE
In the morning Holly, the pool manager, contacted me asking whether I wanted to postpone the event due to the extreme conditions – at that point in time the sea was crashing over the wall into the pool and had actually flooded the cafe next door!!? Luckily, during the day, the weather subsided and, despite what the clouds were threatening, was good to us again.
Another record entry of 96 with seven no-shows meant that 89 competitors crossed the finish line (72 entries on the night).
First and second was a forgone conclusion, with Neil Eddy of MBH?(12:42)?finishing a good 21 seconds ahead of Dave Bartlett from Gyllyngvase SLSC (13:03).? The surprise of the night was Pete Le Grice, who had taken part in the July event finishing in 13th place in 15:17, and?was determined to improve that position, and finished in third place in a time of 13:41.? He has since joined MBH and we have welcomed him with open arms!!
Charlotte Hurst for?MBH, ?was flying tonight beating both club chairman, Ian Matthews and Nick Brooks, to be first woman home in a time of 15:40.? Her times are just improving with every event – though tonight’s time may have something to do with the fact that her boyfriend, Neil Eddy, was chasing her down the Prom!? Second was Emily Trebilcock from Gyllyngvase SLSC in 16:02 and third,?fellow?team-mate, 14-year-old Nicki Russell in 16:39.
For the veterans, Nigel Sims of MBH was first home in 14:32 with first female vet Jacqueline Roberts in 17:28.
Charlotte Hurst was first junior but seeing that she had already won a prize (as had Nicki Russell) the prize passed down to Melissa Reid of Gyllyngvase SLSC in 16:52.? First male junior was Robin Watson in 15:07.
Well done to everyone who took part.? There was quite a bit of seaweed on the prom as well as stone which had been thrown up by the sea towards Newlyn.
The final event in the series will be held on Saturday, 26 September 2009 at 6pm – put it in your diary now!
Hope everyone liked the pigs!!? What will next month bring!
