52 Harriers travel to the Newquay 10k
Mounts Bay Harriers were very well represented by a team of 52 runners who travelled up to Newquay on Sunday morning for their 10k event , which is race number 2 in the 2018 Cornwall Glass & Glazing Road Running Grand Prix Series.
The course , which starts and finishes at Newquay Sports Centre is a predominantly fast course , but with some very challenging uphill sections during miles 2, 3 and 6. The weather was very cold on sunday morning , but with clear sunny skies and light winds , the runners had near perfect conditions to contend with.
A huge entry field of 765 runners took part in the race , and there were several notable performances from Mounts Bay athletes. Tristan Sellors was the first male harrier to cross the finish line in 35:17 , and he ran superbly to finish in 10th overall place & also claiming 3rd prize in the ultra competitive Male Under 35 age category. Joining Tristan in the Mens team of top 6 finishers were David Andrewartha ; Tom Berryman ; Thomas Prosser – who ran an excellent race & also won 2nd prize in the Male Under 20 age category ; Joe Easterbrook ; and Nigel Sims.
