A busy week of racing during the last week of June

On Wednesday evening, 9 Harriers travelled to Boconnoc for the annual 5 race, the final event in this years multi terrain series. This undulating course offers a real challenge for runners although Nicholas Morse commented that the course was surprisingly dry bearing in. Kind the recent rain.
Luke Mclean said it was a nice summer evening at a well organised event and he tried his best to catch Tim Twiggs but he was just too strong. All the Harriers were pleased with their times.
Tim Twiggs – 36.27
Luke McLean- 36.34
Dee Searle – 40.52
Nicky Morse – 46.45
Damian Cook – 48.10
Sam Rowe – 51.15
Julie Bolitho- 1.04.40
Sarah Johns – 1.14.22
Emma Johns – 1.14.22

On the Saturday, 2 Harriers raced the Smugglers Scuttler – 13.1 miles on the Cornish Coast path from Lands End to Cape Cornwall and back. The twist in this race is that runners have to collect loot & bring it back or face a time penalty. Tom Berryman had a good run, finishing 6th overall in 2.08.48, a massive 13 minutes off his last years time which he was delighted with. Dan French finished in a respectable 3.05.15.

Julie Bolitho also raced on Saturday evening at the Rock to Rock event at Watergate Bay. Julie said this was a great event so glad although the sand with all its lumps & bumps was very challenging. Julie completed the 2K in 15.54 and the 5K in 39.26.

Also on Saturday, Paul Glasspoole set off on the Cotswold Challenge- 100k along the Cotswold Way starting in Bath and finishing at Cheltenham. This course has 2590 metres of ascent making it a real challenge. Paul finished in 8th place overall which he didn’t expect but was very pleased with.
