A busy weekend of competing

This weeks Mounts Bay Harriers report – starting close to home, on Sunday the 20th coaches Ronnie James and Graham Storer put on a 10k time trial for the club using the old Marazion 10k route, 23 Mounts Bay Harriers took part in this, they all ran well and enjoyed the slight change of start and finish, first male runner back was Richard Alford and first female runner back was Carol Randall.

All of the Harriers that took part want to thank Ronnie and Graham for putting on and organising a great event.

Up the coast in Portsmouth Claire Evans took part in the Great South Run which is a 10 mile race. Claire enjoyed doing this race as it was her first race back running after breaking her ankle, it was made better as Portsmouth is Claire’s hometown. Claire was pleased to complete the 10 mile race in a time of 2:19, even though her training hadn’t quite gone to plan, she had only done up to 4 miles, but she was still very glad to cross the finish line and receive her finishers medal

Further up the country Rachel Glover took part in the Windsor Autumn run series 5k race at Eton Dorney lake, Rachel commented saying she really enjoyed the course, it was very flat and well organised, Rachel said she was pleased to have her oldest daughter and her grandson there to support and watch her. Rachel was pleased at the time she completed the race in – 36:53.

Further a filed, Claire Backhouse travelled up to York to take part in the Yorkshire marathon, this was the second marathon this year that Claire has taken on which is her biggest challenge to date and she ran really well, Claire commented saying she found it tough as there where some hard long hills but she was very well supported by her brilliant husband Stuart and her brilliant coach Terry. Claire enjoyed the marathon and said the atmosphere was amazing! Claire was very pleased to complete Yorkshire marathon in a time of 4:48.
