A weekend of racing for the Harriers

On a lovely April weekend, the Harriers were out racing in the Uk & abroad.
Five Mounts Bay Harriers raced at Enys in the sunshine of the Enys 10k road race.A challenging and scenic course . Nicky Morse was first Harrier home and 2nd in his new age group in a time of 54.21 followed by Chantelle Jackson. It was a welcome return to racing for Sam Rowe who took 5 minutes of her previous best time.
Further afield, Three Mounts Bay Harriers travelled to Manchester to compete in the Marathon, this is a flat and fast course, Janet Haynes finished in 3.43.49, a pb for her Stuart Backhouse in 3.58.01, Claire Backhouse with a pb of 4.48.48. The three agreed that the race was well marshalled with a carnival atmosphere, lots of supporters encouraging the runners with shouts out, music and sweets.
Even further afield, another three Harriers travelled to Rome to run the marathon. Ian Tucker finished in a cracking time of 3:37:25. Chantal McLennan & Karyn Jakes finished in just under 5 hours. Karyn commented that the sun was cracking the edges and with not a cloud in the sky and no breeze it was a tough race but they all absolutely loved the course, stunning around every corner . Karyn can’t wait to do it again!
Finally, in Falmouth, three ladies cycled the Falmouth Audax 65 mile ride. Zoe Cocksedge, Stacey Nicholas & Karen McClay really enjoyed the event and the company.
Our next beginners course starts on Monday 16th April – please see our website for details of this & our other activities- www.mountsbayharriers.co.uk
