Mounts Bay Harriers were out in Cornwall & Devon over the weekend.
In St Austell, a group of Harriers took on the very tough Imerys Half & full marathons. These off road races are on a hilly course around the China clay Pit works surrounding St Austell. Weather conditions were good with sunshine & a cooling breeze.
In the half marathon, Gary Richards was the first Harrier back in a time of 1.30.32 giving him sixth place overall & first in his age group. Zoe Cocksedge was the first female in 2.00.21 giving her an age group place as well.
Two Harriers did the full marathon, Stuart Thomson & Martin Post. They ran most of the race together & finished a few seconds over 4 hours. They commented that the course was very tough but running together had helped them complete the race in their predicted time.
In Devon, 8 Harriers took part in the Bideford 10k race – a fast, flat race along The Tarka trail. Gemma Vercesi was pleased to be the first Harrier back, followed by Michael Rooney – both had started running with the Harriers beginners group.
