Amsterdam Marathon Running Festival 15/16th October 2016


Mounts Bay Harriers runners crossed the channel this weekend to take part in the TCS Amsterdam marathon running festival with 40 thousand other runners across the distances. This flat course took runners through the city and along the canals and tramlines in a scenic and well supported event . Windmills and rivers with music and crowds all added to the atmosphere and the Cornish team were put to the test.
First time marathon racers Sam Rowe 5 :23:33 and Stuart Backhouse 3:47:48 impressed with their efforts and were well supported by Yvonne Watkins , Claire Backhouse, Amanda Morse-Prosser, Jackie Stone, Damien Cook, Nigel Sims fresh from his Iron Man success . John Greenaway travelled to meet family and posted a sub 5 hour marathon there.
Also racing that weekend in Amsterdam in the half marathon were Steve Davis and Nicky and Jackie Morse. Pictured after the challenge are the MBH travellers.
