This weekend saw Mounts Bay Harriers rise to the challenge of the Marathon distance and the Triathlon. In London 9 athletes tackled the Virgin Marathon with some facing this for the first time one of these Pete LeGrice of Mounts Bay and Bristol and West stopped the clock in 2:23:16 and 14th place a brilliant performance. Mother and daughter Rachel and Ruth Glover ran well with times of 6:28:34 and 4.39:38 respectively. Dan Preston achieved a very good first marathon time of 3:21:36 another first timer and graduate of the 2015 MBH 10 week walk to run group Natalie Gibbs finished in 5:26:04. Simon Jones was in at 3:53:07 , Paul Angove in 4:20:08 and Rose Cecil in 5:15:03. The runner in the Rhino suit Gillian Silverton wore her 2 stone costume around the London course and finished in 7:00:09..well done Gill. As well as training and running on the day these athletes like thousands of others raised thousands of pounds for the charities they represented.
Further North Janet Haynes reaped the benefit of her tough training schedule and raced in the Blackpool Marathon and achieved a good for age time of 3:21:36.
Staying in the County Mounts Bay Harriers competed in the Tempus Leisure Bodmin Triathlon Michael Ringwood was highest placed in the age groups with a 3rd in a time of 1:29:03 .Mark Richards and Helen Hughes were 12th in their age groups with times of 1:19:23 and 1:40:46. Sarah Alexander was 20th in her age group in a time of 1:52:03 and Caleb Munday was 33rd in his age group with a time of 1:27:26.
