Bys Viken events staged another of their popular and challenging races on Bank Holiday Saturday with a nod to the iconic western film 3:10 to Yuma it was a 5k trail 3:10 to St Ives along the challenging and beautiful south west coast path from Dynamite Quay to St Ives station. The runners took up the theme and fancy dress was the order of the day with Cowboys and horses chasing the only native red Indian Rolling Thunder aka Mounts Bay athlete Tristan Sellors who blasted his way to a win in 21.50 not hampered by wolf head dress and fur and feathers. Second place was Richard Savage 23.02 and third Thomas Rosenfield 23.20 .
Mounts Bay Harriers turned out in force and there were top ten places for Nigel Sims 4th, 17 year old Tom Prosser 6th , Geoff Letchford 8th and Stuart Backhouse 10th. First Mounts Bay lady home was Ruth Glover. Junior athlete Savannah Gibbs joined the team and ran strongly to finish in 40.24.
This well organised and friendly event will attract growing support as it becomes a regular fixture in the calendar.
