Mounts Bay Harriers

Who we are...

Mounts Bay Harriers are the newest local Running, Triathlon and Athletics Club in Penwith, being set up by local triathletes and runners in June 2005. The club meets at Mounts Bay School every Monday at 7pm for social runs of varying lengths, with structured coached sessions at various locations on Thursdays at 7:00pm. (best to e-mail first)

...and what we do!

The club now has over 200 members and regularly has 20-30 turning up for training sessions. Of the group that turn out there is always a wide standard of athletes from beginners, who are especially welcome, to accomplished triathletes and runners. The club also has a large junior section who meet on Friday nights at "The Dome" at Mounts Bay School, Heamoor.

Are you interested in training to become a Triathlon Referee?

If yes we could offer you a FREE place on a training day offered by Triathlon England at the Dragon Leisure Centre in Bodmin on Saturday 11th February 9am to 5pm.

To validate your qualification you will also be required to shadow an experienced referee at one of the following Sprint Distance Triathlons.

8th April Penzance Triathlon
13th May Liskeard Triathlon
27th May Helston Triathlon
9th Sept Bodmin Triathlon
7th Oct Wadebridge Triathlon

Please note, we are offering this training to people who have suitable knowledge of Triathlons and are willing to undertake refereeing duties in the future. After qualifying refereeing duties will be paid according to Triathlon England guidelines.

“Safeguarding and Protecting Children” Course

Could you please let coaches and any other personnel in your club know about this course that will take place at Carn Brea Hub Club on Tuesday 14^th August 6.30 – 9.30pm.

The cost of the course is £25 and you can download application forms from the Cornwall Sports Partnership website, details below.

If you have any potential coaches can you please remind them that the following courses are taking place in Cornwall in the autumn. All courses at Poltair School St. Austell. Level 1 Saturday 8^th September & Saturday 10^th November, Children in Athletics Sunday 9^th September, Running, Fitness & Walking Sunday 11^th November,

Level 2 Saturday 29^th & Sunday 30^th September.

Potential coaches need to apply through the England Athletics office at Exeter. Application forms can be downloaded from the website www.englandathletics.org go to regions South West then the coaching workshops contact. Clubs further up the County can apply to courses in Devon. There are a range of courses being held at Ivybridge School.
