This weekend saw the end of the 2017 Road Running season & also the latest group of Beginners finish their 10 week course with the Parkrun at Penrose.
Parkrun is a free 5k run held every Saturday. The latest group of beginner runners finished their 10 week course by running the Parkrun at Penrose. Supported by other Harriers, they were pleased to finish the event & celebrate with a mince pie & a welcome hot drink at Lakeside Cafe. Our next beginners course starts in January 2018.
Sunday saw the traditional end of the road racing season with The Mob Match, a 5 mile race on a undulating course with breathtaking views around Pendennis Point, Swanpool and Gillingvase beach. Clubs are encouraged to enter as many members as they can & runners receive points depending on their finishing position. The club with the least points wins. The race is a week after the Cornish marathon so tests tired legs for some runners who have done both events.
Stuart Thomson was the first Harrier back in 31.31 giving him 51st place. He praised the course & the friendly marshals. Ruth Glover was first female in 38.14. There were personal bests for Emma Richards & Michael Rooney who was in the 2016 beginners group.
Mounts Bay Harriers meet in Monday evenings at Mounts Bay Academy. We offer a range of training for all levels of runners & triathletes. Please see our website www.mountsbayharriers.co.uk for further details.
