Outdoor enthusiasts from Devon and Cornwall will be treated to all sorts of adventurous inspiration at the Explore the Outdoors event at the Plymouth Pavilions over the weekend of 21 and 22 February.
This year’s show will be officially opened by Charley Boorman of the hit TV series “Long Way Down” – Charley will be joining other outdoor experts and inspirational speakers in the Speaker Theatre to talk of his adventures with Ewan McGregor.
Explore the Outdoors show encompasses all aspects of outdoor pursuits so whether you are an adrenaline junkie, into water sports, travel or exploring, this event will cater for all interests, ages and capabilities.
The 2009 show with official media partner, The Herald promises to be bigger and better than before with lots more activities to try and equipment to buy.
There will be a sailing simulator and climbing wall provided by Stonehouse Play Space Association. The sailing simulator is part of a project called “Plymouth Youth Sailing” and is the only club in the area dedicated to the development for sailing for young people.
Duchy College will return with their crate stacking activity and Rock & Rapid Adventures will encourage visitors to try out ‘slack lining’. The Highline Adventure team will also be there with a mobile half pipe for skateboarders and BMX riders. Meanwhile, the Woodlands Riders – the South West Downhill Mountain Bike Club – will be providing demonstrations outside.
There will also be kayaking and dive sessions in the Pavilions pool, plus a camp site chill out area in the Arena bar.
