Five go to Bideford and some travel further

The nearly famous five Mounts Bay Harriers headed North to Bideford to tackle the second race in the BAAC 3 race series. This time it was a 10k and the course followed a fast and scenic route out to Instow and back along the Tarka trail in beautiful sunny conditions with only a slight headwind on the return. First Harrier home was Damian Cook in a new PB of 50.04 so close to the elusive under 50 time ; second Harrier was Nicky Morse last years beginner and now a club coach in a time of 50.41 taking 2 minutes off his previous best; third Harrier home was Yvonne Watkins using this race as training mileage for her forthcoming Classic Quarter 44 mile challenge Yvonne ran with Jackie Morse who she encouraged to a pb of 56.25. Fresh from her London Marathon achievements and the MBH Majorca cycling week Ruth Glover added this medal to the set.
In Taunton Club Chairman Ian Matthews was taking part in his first triathlon in the super vet category finishing 7th in his age group and 37th overall out of a field of 191 a welcome return to Tri racing for Ian.
Further afield Stuart and Rachel Thomson joined runners in Orlando Florida to race a 5k and Stuart bagged a second place in his age group, a holiday bonus. Stuart proudly shows off his medal and trophy in the picture.
