After a lull in racing, there have been numerous events recently & The Harriers have been out & about racing in the lovely spring weather.
In Saltash, Richard Alford tackled the Saltash half marathon, finishing in 1.50.15 which he was pleased with. He described the course as hilly, up & up and hot.
Further afield, Gary King Milton ran the Milton Keynes full marathon. He was happy with his finishing time of 5.34.59 considering the heat of the day.
Just over the border in Bideford, three Harriers raced the Bideford 10k. This fast flat course goes from Bideford to Instowe, returning on the Tarka trail. On a sunny & warm day, Stuart Thomson was delighted to finish in a new personal best of 38.30, 16th overall & third in his age group. Joyce James & Rachel Thomson finished seconds apart in 1.03.40 & 1.04.05. They both enjoyed the race although commented on the heat which was unexpected.
Finally closer to home, on a very wet Wednesday evening, a number of Harriers raced the Freedom Racing Godrevy 10k, named as one of the summer sessions, the rain came down for most of the race but didn’t stop the runners enjoying the event. David Andrewartha was the first Harrier back in 46.25 giving him 21st place overall.
