The first race in the series takes places this Wednesday evening. First swimmers off at 7.00pm. Entries on the night allowed. Registration from 6.00pm. Further details here
BEWARE the fair is in town – right in front of Jubilee Pool to be precise. So if you can’t find the entrance just head for the zebra crossing and the gates are right by that, inbetween the twirling teacups and merry-go-round!!
The run course has had to change due to the fair taking over the entire area. Now you come out of the gates and go diagonally across to your right to the entrance to Jubilee Gardens, you won’t be able to see this entrance as there will be two big round stalls in front of it with overhanging canopies, which you will have to run under. Run straight through the gardens, up some steps, to the brick arch and turn left along the footpath until you come to the fair again, then cross diagonally to your right along the fair barriers to the Promenade. Run up the first slope to get on the main Prom and then you are back on course. Run to Newlyn Green/Tolcarne and turnaround, and then run back to the Jubilee slipway which is the finish. There will be extra marshals around the beginning of the run course to guide you.
Parking will be tight as the Galowan festival has taken over the main car park directly opposite Jubilee Pool and parking restrictions are in place along the road outside the Yacht Inn. You may be lucky enough to find parking on the sea front but, otherwise, your best bet may be to park in the big car park at Wharfside (next to the bus station) and walk up. This is a pay and display car park.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday night!!
(Marshals please meet at the Pool at 6.30pm – please let me know if you want to take part as well)
Open water swimming in Mounts Bay afterwards for anyone who wants to join in – bring your wetsuit. Should be a high tide at 9pm.
