This Year?s annual Christmas time trial took place on Thursday 16th December.
The evening was chilly with a strong breeze blowing particularly on hills back
to the school. The snow and rain forecast stayed away although the roads were a little slippery underfoot. The numbers were down slightly (14) on previous years, the poor weather forecast probably being a significant factor.
The members running demonstrated a determined effort and encouraging support for the organised session.
The purpose of building the time trial into the programme enables runners to identify specific areas for development at their stage of training leading into the winter months and the start of the Grand Prix series in January.
Hopefully throughout 2011 we can encourage more members to join Thursday sessions particularly now we have the track option on one Wednesday per month, in doing so, understand that improvement will occur when quantity is replaced by quality.
It is advisable to develop a structured plan for runners to achieve their full potential whether that goal is to be able walk, run, lose weight, break one hour for 10k or 2 hours 30 minutes for the marathon.
Beginner or ?seasoned? runner the outcome is linked to how well you adapt to the training.
Too little = little or no improvement
Too much = injured.
I would also like to thank everyone for their support in 2010. Wishing you all A Merry Christmas and a successful 2011
