Well done to MBH Triathletes Mat Stokeld, Scott Markham, Gus Gusterson and Shawn Gimbert who competed recently at the annual Royal Navy Triathlon Championships. The event is a sprint distance triathlon comprising a 400m pool swim, 13 mile bike and 3 mile cross country run. Around 100 Royal Navy personnel and Royal Marines completed the race in fine conditions, if not a little windy.
Some cracking individual performances resulted in Mat finishing 2nd in a time of 1:00:51, even after missing the turn round point on the bike so doing a bit extra!! Gus finished 7th in 1:05:03, Scott came 21st in 1:09:55 after having a nightmare T1 where one of his pedals fell off!! Yours truly, who along with Scott were competing in the race for the first time, came 26th in a time 01:11:00. ‘Sub-Lieutenant’ HFS also made an appearance skiving from his officer training and finished 6th in 01:04:25.
A great day out was had by all – beats working for a living thats for sure!! Just wish Gus hadnt talked me into doing the Leedstown TT the day after! Still hurting!
