Mounts Bay Harriers triathletes compete over the weekend of 2/3 June

As well as running, the Harriers have a lot of triathletes who compete in competitions during the triathlon season.
The weekend saw the latest in the Cornwall Tri series – Wadebridge involving a 400 metre pool swim, a 26 kilometres cycle & a 5k run. The cycle route was changed from last year & the competitors enjoyed the new route.
Jacob Wood was the overall winner and Janet Haynes was third in her age group.
Elsewhere Mark Worledge came 9th overall & second in his age group at the Mad Hatter Polkerris Biathlon- a 1.5k sea swim followed by 6k on the Coast path. Mark was very pleased with his finishing time & age group place.
Finally further afield, father & daughter Stuart & Eden Backhouse became Weekend Warriors at The Blenheim Triathlon, raising money for Bloodwise charity. This involves doing continuous triathlons over the weekend – 750metre swim, 12 miles bike & 3.5 mile run. Stuart completed 7 & Eden 5. Eden is now at Leeds University & competes for their triathlon team having first started triathlon with the Harriers. Stuart & Eden really enjoyed the event & have raised £400 so far for Bloodwise.
Mounts Bay Harriers meet on Monday evenings at Mounts Bay Academy. We welcome runners & triathletes of all abilities and offer various training sessions suitable for all. See our website www.mountsbayharriers.co.uk for further information.
