Mounts Bay Harrier member Nick Harvey from Newlyn is attempting the end to end!
Nick who last year completed the Norseman Ironman has set himself another extreme test of endurance cycling the 800 or so miles from John O Groats to Lands End, what makes his attempt even more remarkable is he attempting the ride on a ‘FIXED WHEEL’ bicycle and unsupported!!! (that just one gear with no free wheeling and NO back up crew) So no ‘granny ring’ on his bike and he’ll be carrying his own cooking and camping equipment with him and stopping when he can to snatch a quick shut eye.
Nick is leaving JOG on Wednesday 20 May and hoping to cycle around 180 miles a day, hope he’s got plenty of padding on saddle! He’s so hardcore that he’s catching the train to as ‘close’ to JOG as possible but still has to cycle around 30 miles to start his epic ride, arriving at Lands End on Bank Holiday Monday 25 May but daily progress of his journey will hopefully be posted on the MBH forum
Nick, an ex marine who now works with fire brigade, is hoping to raise funds for The Precious Lives Appeal and The Firefighters’ Charity and already has close to £1000 pledged. I’m sure everyone reading this will wish Nick a safe and successful ride.
