North Devon Beach Aquathon – Entry form HERE
GoldCoast Oceanfest 2010 sees this established event hosted in Croyde, for the third time, on Saturday June 19th The event combines a run, swim, run format with conditions determing the actual distances on the day. Typically the event is a 500m run followed by 1000m swim and 3-5000m run on the beach and burrows of Croyde Bay.
Produced and hosted by the North Devon Tri Club and sanctioned by the British Triathlon Association the event has become a favourite on the GoldCoast calendar.
To entice newcomers to the event, the organisers will again offer the relay option first introduced in 2005. This will enable surf lifesavers, swimmers and runners to pair up and enter as a runner and swimmer team to try beat the hardcore multi-sports athletes, getting even more people to taste some swim-run fun!
Under development and with the support of NDDC Leisure and Health Officer we are looking to run a juniors run & swim thru the schools and Surf Lifesaving Clubs. After the Aquathon and designed as an extension of the event, an ‘Invite only’ elite lifeguards ironman event (ski, paddle, run and swim) will conclude the spectacle.
The event attracts around 100 men and women of all ages and is expected to be hotly contested this year with visiting lifeguards from Australia eager to take the crown.
