Open water swim training (Newquay) – Saturday, 12 May 2012

As part of the ongoing support from Triathlon England throughout this years ‘Cornwall Triathlon Series 2012’.? They have given us access to there coaching infrastructure.? We have therefore set up a ‘Open water swim training sessions’ on Saturday 12th May 2012 on Towan Beach in Newquay.?? These sessions will be run by ‘Clare Short – Triathlon England Coach’.

If you are interested in taking part in one of these sessions, please log onto your registration account and go to the merchandise page and select either, ‘Novice or Experienced’.?? There are only 20 spaces available on each of the 2 sessions being run on the day.? If we have a lot of interest, then we will look at running more sessions over the coming months.? Both the sessions will have RNLI water cover.

What does the training entail?
Training session designed for novice and intermediate swimmers. Our aim is to develop skills, build confidence and prepare you for open water swimming. The session will include advice on getting wetsuit on & off, some theory on Open Water swimming and practical session. The practical will be in two ability groups and will have safety cover at all times. Swimmers need to be able to swim 200m, and bring wetsuit, swim hat (2), goggles, change of warm clothes & flask of warm drink!

We will also have USN sports nutrition on site to give advice on training supplements.
