Penzance Tri 2010

Penzance Tri 2010 Results HERE

First, my thanks must go to the 70+ marshals who turned up today to make this year’s triathlon the best ever! ?Special thanks to Mike Elms for getting up at 3am to put out the signs, Chris Trewhella for being in charge of the marshals and to Shay Bowen for being the swim starter – without them I wouldn’t have been able to compete and pick up first local female prize!!!

Taking part in the event really puts a different perspective on it.? I can enjoy the scenic landscapes as the road rolls up and up with a bit of down…

The weather was great, a bit nippy to start with but then it seemed to warm up.

I was having a battle on the bike with number 47, who I later found out was Sally Myatt from Tamar Trotters. ?She’d overtake me up the hills, I’d overtake her down the other side – but then she totally annihilated me on the run and took third place in the 40-49 age group. I thought about rigging the results but I think someone may have noticed!

Well done to Matt Lewis (Camel Valley Tri) for winning – even though he says he hasn’t trained in ages. Dave Pell (Driven to Tri) took second place (and his children quickly ate the Easter egg before he had a chance to even look at it), with Michael Birchmore picking up third prize.

In the women’s race, Kerry Smith the clear leader, ahead of second place Charlotte Hurst (MBH), with Eleanor Carter (Gyllngvase SLSC) coming in third.

There was a great atmosphere there today for which I must thank all the competitors.?? Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

My thanks must also go to Brandon Hire for the scaffolding and barriers and to Nigel and the staff at Penzance Leisure Centre for being so accommodating (we don’t mind getting up extra early on Easter Sunday just to open up at 6am!!)
