This is a unique challenge that will aim to run a relay of marathons around Great Britain in May 2012. Not only will there be the physical challenge to runners of all abilities but the event will also raise funds and awareness for brain tumour research. It is surprising how many of us have been touched by this disease either directly or through someone we know
Scheduled to start at midnight on Day 3 from Christchurch, Bournemouth. We will continue along the south coast through Poole and Dorchester (what?s that like at 4 in the morning?)
There are some delightful place en route ? Bridport, Sidmouth, Slapton ? and some major cities in Exeter, Torquay and Plymouth, before ending up at Truro. Plenty of places to gain a lot of local support.
A lot more ‘up and down’ in Stage 2 than Stage 1 with a mix of Category 4 and Category 5 climbs.
We are blessed with fantastic scenery around the coast of Great Britain but none more so that the awe-inspiring vista that is Lands End. We then turn up the North Cornwall coast, through Newquay (middle of the night when we go through there so probably very busy!) and then onto Rick Stein country at Padstow and Wadebridge.
When we head up through Polzeath, Boscastle, and cross into Devon and onto Bideford and Barnstaple before hitting the climb over the top of Exmoor. Some tough terrain here but working our way down towards the Somerset coast to Watchet (overlooking the Bristol Channel) and then onto Bridgwater.
Mainly Category 5 climbs (a fair few of them) plus our first Category 3 climb as we get to Exmoor. Go on, go for it!
