Saturday 12th August saw the Roseland August Trail – RAT festival of running with a number of events over various distances taking place on the coast path around the Roseland peninsula.
10 Harriers made the journey from West Cornwall to take part in different races.
Steve Richards took on The Plague, 64 miles, starting at mid night, a very challenging run. Steve finished in 19.12.26.
In the Black RAT, 32 miles, 4 Harriers set off with Gary Richards being the first back in an impressive 5.30.41. Nigel Sims was second in 6.37.32 having suffered with cramp over the last few miles.
The Red RAT is a 20 mile race and Ruth Glover was the first Harrier in 5.26.59 with a Michael Rooney right behind in 5.27.00. This was Michaels longest off road run & he was nervous at the start but enjoyed the challenge.
Unfortunately two Harriers were unable to complete their events but still enjoyed what they had achieved.
All the Harriers thought the event was well organised & very friendly and all enjoyed it.
Mounts Bay Harriers meet on Monday evenings at Mounts Bay Academy. We welcome runners & triathletes of all abilities. Our next beginners group starts on Monday 11th September. Details on our website – www.mountsbayharriers.co.uk shortly.
