Newquay’s Ken Walker recorded his first ever road race win when romping home an easy winner of the Whitemoor 10k.
After being pulled through a very quick opening mile by Cornwall AC’s James Waldie in a shade over 5 minutes, Ken then took control of the race and experienced for the first time, the thrill of following the lead vehicle.
As he crossed the finishing line in the village recreation field, he had over a minute in hand of his nearest rival, team mate Ben Hieber, with Waldie hanging on to third.
First home in the ladies race was Cornwall AC’s Emma Stallard, who finished in an excellent 6th place overall, ahead of team mates Sarah Jarvis and Kathryn Burgess.

It was a tough 10k, with the first mile being a fast downhill, the next three undulating and the last two up!
Lovely, low-key event in aid of Whitemoor Recreation Ground, where the event finished.
I finished 6th lady overall and Ian Gronwalt, our newest member, finished just behind me.
