Who we are...

Mounts Bay Harriers are the newest local Running, Triathlon and Athletics Club in Penwith, being set up by local triathletes and runners in June 2005. The club meets at Mounts Bay School every Monday at 7pm for social runs of varying lengths, with structured coached sessions at various locations on Thursdays at 7:00pm. (best to e-mail first)

...and what we do!

The club now has over 200 members and regularly has 20-30 turning up for training sessions. Of the group that turn out there is always a wide standard of athletes from beginners, who are especially welcome, to accomplished triathletes and runners. The club also has a large junior section who meet on Friday nights at "The Dome" at Mounts Bay School, Heamoor.

Junior Quad Kids - 25 May 2011

The MBH Juniors did the club proud tonight as 16 young athletes pulled on the vest and competed in 4 events in the first of 3 Quadkid events being held at Carn Brea.

The Juniors who were invited by the DAN (Duchy Athletic Network) were all years 4, 5 or 6 (although we did sneak in a few year 3s) and competed against other DAN running club members such as Cornwall AC, Hayle and Newquay & Par.
The events on the first evening were 600m, 75m sprint, turbo javelin throw and sand pit long jump.
Although the children had not ‘practiced’ the long jump they did very well considering, but we really excelled at the running events.
More practice this week for the next event which will be on Wednesday 29 June- the 4 events on this night will be 70m hurdles, shot, 600m and high jump
Thanks to all the parents and coachs from DAN clubs who helped and made the evening possible especially Mark, Chris and Louise from MBH - but an even bigger thankyou to the parents for getting their children to the event.
I am so proud of our Juniors tonight!!

Ian
