How often have you finished a race with that hollow feeling and you’re wondering……. Is that it? What do we do now? Do we just go home?
Well that’s not a question you need a sk at North Devon Tri’s Beach Aquathlon.
The 1k sea swim, 7.5k run event forms part of the weekend long Gold Coast Oceanfest. A full weekend of sea, sports and music at Croyde Bay in North Devon. What’s more, entry into the Aquathlon also gets you a festival wristband, so for the rest of the day you can watch the various events, watch the bands and chill out in the beer tents until late in the night.
The event is held on the Saturday, so there’s no big rush home ready for work on Monday morning. Bring your surf boards and your tents, pitch on one of the local sites and take in the full weekend of festivities.
The event starts with a quick charge into the surf on Croyde Beach. The 1k (roughly) takes on an ‘M’ shape as you swim out to a bouy then return to the beach before swimming back out into the surf again. There is full RNLI & beach lifeguard cover. On your second trip back to the beach you make for transition before heading out on the 3 lap run which takes you over beach, trails, sand dunes and a stream.
Once the race is all over the event organisers will present the winners with20their prizes on the main stage inside the festival area and then you’ll be free to browse around, top up your tan and party.
Event details can be found HERE and details of the Festival itself can be found HERE. Why not come down and make a weekend of it.
